This mega campus is envisioned to be a sustainable automotive manufacturing ecosystem. The $5.6 billion battery and vehicle manufacturing campus will be the largest in the Ford world – built for the next century.

Automotive Manufacturing

Tennessee Electric Vehicle Center will be a state of the art assembly plant, home to Ford’s next all new electric truck. Ford’s goal is for the electric vehicle assembly plant at BlueOval City to be carbon neutral, use 100% renewable energy, send zero waste to landfill and use fresh water only for human consumption – as the company moves towards a closed-loop manufacturing process.

Battery Manufacturing

BlueOval SK will make lithium ion batteries to power future Ford and Lincoln brand electric vehicles. We will do this by utilizing battery technology developed by our parent company SK On over the past two decades. Our BlueOval SK employees can feel proud about the product they make, knowing that it is one of the safest, most reliable electric batteries on the road.

Ford and SK On will create 11,000 new jobs and invest over $11 billion to build a manufacturing plant and a battery plant in Tennessee and two battery plants in Kentucky.

The batteries made at BlueOval SK will be made to power future Ford and Lincoln electric vehicles.

  • Ford and SK Innovation has a 50/50 partnership and will invest over $11 billion across both locations.

  • Yes, we legally established BlueOvalSK in mid-July, which will produce Lithium Ion batteries at BlueOval City, Tennessee and BlueOval SK Battery Park, Kentucky.

We filed an 8-K on July 13, 2022.

  • We conducted a rigorous site selection process which considered site size, shovel ready, their business environment, government incentives, workforce and the availability of renewable energy.
